Project: The Art of «Éclosion»
The French word «éclosion» can be explained and translated in various ways depending on the context. In the case of animals hatching from an egg, the English equivalent is «hatching.» When referring to flowers blooming, it can be translated as «blooming» or «blossoming.» In a figurative sense, such as the sudden emergence of talent or the onset of an epidemic, the appropriate translation would be «emergence» or «outbreak.»
This renovation project was inspired by a photograph brought by the clients, which served as the foundation for an architectural concept rooted in the idea of «éclosion»—the act of blossoming or hatching. Organic lines and material choices were thoughtfully selected to evoke this theme.
The use of mother-of-pearl mimics a delicate shell opening to reveal its beauty, while floral elements are subtly present through the choice of the rug and the petal-like shape of the central island. Anchored firmly to the ground, this island is reminiscent of a flower in full bloom. The geometric pattern of the solid wood flooring spreads throughout the room like the organic growth of a mushroom, grounding the space in nature
The rounded design of the TV console opens outwards towards the coffee table, as if the latter is in the process of hatching from within. Wood features prominently throughout, infusing the room with warmth and creating a comforting refuge, aligning with the clients’ desire for a contemporary yet natural atmosphere.
"eclosion"
This renovation project is based on a strong concept: the idea of blooming, symbolizing the transition from containment to openness, from straight lines to generous curves. The central theme is to break free from an envelope, allowing linear forms to evolve and open into softer, rounder shapes, creating a sense of motion and natural growth.
Starting from clean, structured lines, the volumes gradually unfold into more fluid and organic forms. Every design element, whether in the furniture or architectural details, follows this dynamic: a fluid movement that blossoms, establishing a constant dialogue between precision and softness, structure and freedom.
The chosen materials further enhance this transition, with warm wood providing a comforting frame for the space, while allowing curves to gently emerge. The overall design reflects a harmonious evolution, moving from restraint to full bloom in a contemporary yet nature-inspired atmosphere.
